Monkey See Monkey Do, creates a learning environment that teaches children the fundamentals of practicing yoga by balancing quiet and active poses with storytelling, games, dance, drama, meditation, and knowledge about the human body in a child friendly way. The benefits of yoga are endless. Improved focus and concentration, self/body awareness, gross motor development, self-confidence, healthy bodies, improved focus and concentration, self discipline and control: still and silent, respect for oneself and for others, stress management techniques, emphasis on staying present, non-competitive, reduces aggressiveness, modifications can be made easily. Instructor: Alycia Farrauto – Performance School of Music Alycia brings her experience as a skilled musician and teacher to the music classes at Monkey See Monkey Do. Her approach blends the best qualities of 3 different early childhood music philosophies - Suzuki, Orff and Kodaly. The Suzuki approach allows children to develop musicality through focused listening activities and imitation. Orff brings the element of playing rhythm instruments together in ensemble and using movement to express music. Lastly, Kodaly uses the child’s first instrument, the voice, to teach the basics of music. Over the next 2 semesters, Alycia will develop the children’s musicality, steady beat and sense of pitch through fun musical activities. Your child will be singing new songs and old favourites, all the while learning basic musical skills and terminology. Best of all, Alycia’s personal philosophy is to bring music to the child’s everyday life through having fun with music. Alycia’s objectives include the development of:
Ages: 2 ½ to 6 yrs The children are introduced to the French Language through various resource materials. This program is fun and is very age appropriate. My goal is to teach the children simple words and phrases, days of the week, special calendar days, animals, colours, numbers etc… As a group we engage in memory games, work sheets, books, surprise bags, and question and answer games. Aurevoir mes amie!!!!!
Instructor: Little Hands Each 6-week signing session will focus on a specific curriculum allowing your child to fully understand the signs he/she is seeing, practising and using. All of the signs learned are true American Sign Language and will be taught through fun, engaging and interactive games, songs and activities. Children who sign have been found to have earlier verbal skills, greater word retention, higher IQs and to better be able to focus in a school environment. But above all else, our goal with this program is to introduce your child to sign language in a fun and encouraging environment. After each session children will have their own illustrated sign language dictionary to keep.
Instructor: Salsa Babies Salsa Tots™ - Our program focuses on introducing young ones to music and movement through repetition of tropical songs and actions to lively Latin rhythms and lyrics weekly. As dance is a holistic experience, our program engages the child’s mind, body and spirit. Children who are involved in dance at a young age are reported to have an easier time expressing themselves orally (Gilbert).
